only you can prevent forest fires.

residents in south carolina ignited a yard fire on saturday to burn yard debris which blazed into a wildfire burning over 70 homes and 19,000 acres of land near myrtle beach.

the fire rekindled wednesday after it was thought to have been put out on saturday. the fire chief stated that it is common for fires to smolder under forest brush even after being doused making it possible for them to reignite days later.

please take note of the words once sagely spoken by smokey the bear: "only you can prevent forest fires". seriously. because apparently forest fires can only be prevented, once started they are clearly unstoppable.
